Placerville Wildfire Resilience Strategy

Enhancing wildfire resilience through collaborative, large-scale forest health projects and strategic planning.

The City of Placerville Community Wildfire Resiliency Plan is a proactive initiative aimed at mitigating the risk of wildfires in Placerville and its surrounding communities. This project, led by the El Dorado Resource Conservation District (RCD), is focused on enhancing our ability to prioritize, develop, and execute large-scale projects that bolster community wildfire resilience.

Through this initiative, we are expanding our capacity to collaborate with both private landowners and public land managers. Together, we are implementing strategies that reduce wildfire emissions while safeguarding both community and environmental values.

Key actions of this project include:

  • Prioritizing, designing, and executing landscape-level forest health and wildfire resilience projects, supported by stakeholders across the region.

  • Completing essential pre-project planning and permitting to ensure that projects can proceed under established CEQA/NEPA guidelines.

  • Establishing a multi-year schedule of implementation-ready projects that align with the goals of the plan and are poised for funding opportunities.
