Mosquito Post Fire Disaster Recovery (EFRT)
Placer Resource Conservation District (RCD) has received over $11M in grant funding to assist in the recovery of private forestland within the Mosquito Fire footprint. The Georgetown Divide RCD and Placer RCDs’ have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The MOU allows the Georgetown Divide RCD to assist landowners in the El Dorado County Mosquito Fire footprint with post fire restoration to remove hazardous trees and debris from the Mosquito Fire. This work is provided at No Cost to the landowner and comes as the result of successful CA State Dept of Forestry (CAL FIRE) and US Forest Service grants awarded to the Placer Resource Conservation District (RCD) in partnership with the Georgetown Divide RCD.
Project activities include:
Removal of dead trees and brush.
Preparation of the property for replanting.
Planting of conifer species adequate to your area.
Follow-up competition control of competing vegetation to ensure seedling survival.
Estimated timeline of the project:
The project will begin when the RCD has been granted access to enough lands to put the contractors to work. We will work with our contractors to expedite the work as much as possible, but we will have some operational limitations based on fire restrictions, wet conditions, avoidance of nesting birds, and similar constraints that the RCD must observe. This is a voluntary program. You may revoke the ROE at any time.
Contacts and information:
If you would like to participate in the project, landowner(s) should fill out, sign, and return the Right of Entry (ROE) form and return to the RCD via USPS to: Georgetown Divide RCD, 100 Forni Road, Ste A, Placerville, CA 95667 or by email to: courtney.jackson2@usda.gov
